In 2006, The Freshmen Leadership Corps was created to provide academic and social support to 9th grade students entering Carlmont High School who previously attended middle school in the Ravenswood School District. Each summer nine upper class students from Carlmont are trained in mentoring and leadership. These students are then matched up with incoming freshmen to help these students with the transition from middle to high school.
The program is year-round with trainings in the summer on leadership skills and community service project planning. FLC mentors and students also plan community events and spend time together through fun activities and excursions.
